Leadership in Action
My Name is Mateo Zambrano, I’m a second-year dual degree student at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine pursuing an MD/MPH. I’ve been a health educator at YES for the better part of my summer applying my knowledge of health and public health.
This week during the YES! boot camp the students were hard at work finishing their final advocacy projects, developing their presentations and helping each other select pictures for their photovoice gallery.

Hi, my name is Raheem Bell and I am an incoming first year medical student at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. I’ve been a health educator for Y.E.S. for the past few weeks, and have enjoyed spearheading the fitness component of the boot camp.
This week I would like to highlight one of our peer educators, Maddie. She’s a rising sophomore at Josephinum Academy in the Westside of Chicago. She’s very talented in the arts, and has aspirations of becoming a neurologist. She’s fascinated by the brain, and how people work. On our field trip to the Feinberg School of Medicine this week, she was able to meet with current students and faculty to further explore what a career in medicine might look like.
